Medieval Armies for sale (15mm)

Postby Greg Jennings » Thu Sep 16, 2010 8:57 pm

Hi guys,

As some of you know I’m heading overseas in the near future.

I’m selling off a couple of armies I won’t be taking them with me. The Russians at least would enable a beginner to get started into ancients straight away. I’ll be at the Warlords on Saturday (18th September) and I can bring the armies with me if you are interested. I’ll possibly have a few other things as well on Saturday – some terrain etc. which I’ll look to get rid off.

The armies are:

Later Russian/Early Russian ($250)

I used the army in DBM as Early Russian (the army I used when I won Braveheart in 2007). These are mainly Mike’s Models figures with some Essex and Chariot as well. In FoG it can easily do Later Russians (Eternal Empire) but also at a pinch Early Russians (Oath of Fealty). The Generals are still based for DBM. It includes a Camp as well.

3 Cavalry Generals
1 Foot General
8 Bases of Cavalry - Greater Boyars (Lance & Bow armed but count as Armoured, Bow, Sword cavalry in FoG – would be Armoured, Light Spear, Sword in Earlier Russian list)
22 Bases of Cavalry - Lesser Boyars (Armoured, Bow, Sword)
18 Bases of Spearmen
12 bases of Light Foot bow
4 bases of Light Foot handgunners
12 bases of Turkic Light Horse archers
4 bases of Light Horse Javelin (Town militia LH only in the Earlier Russian list)
Camp

Later Medieval German/Renaissance Imperial German ($175)

This army was used as a DBM (Late) Medieval German and also a DBR Maximilian Imperial German and also as a DBR German States army. The army is mainly Mike’s Models figures. As based the army probably can’t do a 800 point FoG army but it has potential for expansion with the unpainted figures included. It would form a good basis for a very late (1490’s) Medieval German army and you definitely can do a number of 600 point variations with what is currently based (particularly some of the Medieval German options in Lost Scrolls that have Landsknechts in them). As well it will do nicely for early German/Imperial armies in the new FoG Renaissance rules. NB. The army does not have a camp with it.

The based army has:

3 Generals
11 double–bases of Pike (i.e. 22 Pike elements) – Landsknecht style
5 Heavy Foot bases of Landsknecht Halberdiers (these can be mixed in with Pike blocks but can be used separately)
8 bases of Lancers (the lancers are really old figures and a bit primitive – they are painted OK but eventually you might want to replace some of them with unpainted ones from below)
5 Medium bases of Sword and Buckler men
18 bases of Arquebusiers (4 to a base on 40x15’s – I would suggest that you re-base a couple as Light Foot Handgunners)
4 bases of Cavalry Reiters i.e. Pistol armed cavalry (4 to a base) – could be used as Mounted Handgunner Cavalry in FoG
5 bases of Light Horse arquebusiers (Renaissance only I suspect)

Included with the army is 6 plastic bags of (mainly) unpainted loose Mike’s Models figures – 4 bags of Late Medieval & Landsknecht foot (halberdiers and pike) with between 35 and 50 infantry figures in each bag, one bag of mounted (12 horses + riders) plus a bag of artillery and gunners.

Personally I would think about re-basing the army but it can be used pretty much as is until you do.

If you are interested let me know. I will bring the stuff to the club on Saturday.

Cheers,

Greg
