Dispatches
Dispatches are Warlord's monthly newsletter. It is
distributed to financial members by the first meeting of the
month (i.e. the first Saturday of the month) by e-mail. If you are not a
financial member you can still find previous issues of Dispatches (Zipped and in
Word or PDF format) below.
News headlines can be viewed online on the News page, some of the best articles
from Dispatches over the years are also available on the Articles page.
Most of the Dispatches' content comes from articles
submitted by members, while other material is found on the Web or taken, with
due acknowledgement (of course!), from other clubs newsletters. Should you wish
to make a submission it should be either
emailed
or snail mailed to:
The Dispatches Editor
Wellington Warlords
P.O Box 12-175
Wellington
Preferably articles should be in Word format
(or as a text file if that's not possible) as this makes it
much easier to edit. The closing date for submissions is the
Wednesday before the first Saturday of the month.
We are also keen to send of copies to other New Zealand clubs as a way of fostering
closer contact with other clubs. All we ask in return is that
they send us a copy of their newsletter. If you are a club
contact and can arrange such an exchange please contact me at the
addresses above.
Article Submission Guidelines
It's not much of a newsletter without any news - and the
only people that can supply that news is you! However, there are
a basic few guidelines for submitting that we need you to follow
in order to make our job easier:
-
It goes without saying that the articles need to be vaguely
relevant to wargaming in general. You'd think so,
wouldn't you?
-
Articles preferably need to be in MS Word format - e-mailed
articles are best (we are not too averse to typing them up for you, however -
it's just not particularly preferable in this day and age). Requests for typing
up large documents may be rejected on the grounds of "you have to be kidding -
do I look like the club's secretary?"
-
Articles need to be in the region of around 500 words
(maximum). We are happy to accept bigger articles, but like the
title of this section, this is a guideline. Add URL's to
relevant websites if you can.
-
Be prepared for your article to be edited…
-
Don't e-mail pictures or photos! As this newsletter is
e-mailed all over NZ (and overseas) the smaller the file, the better for the
receiver (especially if they're with a service provider that charges by
downloaded bytes). And it's a real pain to receive big files. The club website, on the other hand, is the PERFECT place for
them
